Iris Arts is designing children’s book in Spanish and English based of creation story from Maya codices the Popol Vuh. The art and story is by Guadalupe Urbina and the book is called LOS AYUDANTES DE LA ABUELA SHMUCANÉ: El Sol De Las Venedas Pariendo. The audience for the book is the public education system of MesoAmerica with the intention of preserving the cultural heritage of the indigenous population. Narrative & Artwork By Guadalupe Urbina. VOZ PROPIA project working with the Department of Education violence prevention program in the schools in Costa Rica, background film of children working with the arts to be used while Guadalupe Urbina presents in teacher trainings for educator from all over the country. 14 minutes
Producing short animated film on the Maya Calendar in collaboration with Guadalupe Urbina who will write the music for the film, provide consultation on the content, and work with Mayan Daykeepers in both Costa Rica and Guatamala who will consult with the content. (*A daykeeper was the name for a diviner in the pre-Columbian Maya culture.)
CASA VIEJO DE PANAMA - Pictures were taken when Verona went to Panama to work with youth leaders in the rainforest in Panama in 2005. During the first part of this trip she was living in Casa Viejo in Panama City, a small penisula about 12 blocks by 8 blocks where the color and diversity of Panama is clearly visible - ranging from Presidential Palaces to empty houses with jungles growing from their interiors. Inspired by the idea of the doors we pass through during our lives which lead to thoughts about how doors are points of transition from one place to another, on state to another she took photographs of 150 doors in this unique old city. Need to input music, record narrative.

This is for the movie about the women in the regions that were over-run by the Japanese who were sent to “comfort stations” for Japanese military forces as sexual slaves during World War II.
